Facts, limitations & testing
- Apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and Wear OS. [1]
- The free plan includes 5 personal projects, up to 5 people per project, 3 filter views and one week of activity history. [2]
- Pro is sold in the US App Store at $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year. [3]
- Quick Add turns a typed phrase such as "Submit report every Friday at 4pm #Work" into a scheduled, filed task, according to Todoist. [3]
Limitations that matter
- Checked The calendar layout and custom task reminders are listed as Pro features. [2]
- Checked The free plan stops at 5 personal projects, which is fewer than many people's areas of life. [2]
- Our view Much of its depth — boards, filters, team features — is aimed at work. For a shared grocery list alone, it's more than you need.
Price in the original notes. Free; Pro $6.99/mo or $59.99/yr [2, 3]
Our view
Todoist's strength is reach: the same lists on almost any device, shared with people regardless of what phone they carry. Its free plan is genuinely useful for a household list, but it is tight enough that anyone running their whole life in it should expect to pay for Pro.
