Independence
Goodpick Media chooses apps for readers, not for developers. Inclusion, position and wording are never for sale, and we don't ask developers to participate or pay.
This site currently carries no advertising, no sponsored content and no affiliate links. Every outbound link goes to an official store, developer site or platform documentation. If that ever changes, we will say so here first and keep commercial material clearly separate from recommendations.
Goodpick Media is an independent editorial publication. We have no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement from Apple, Google or the developers of the apps we cover. Our scores and weekly or monthly picks are Goodpick decisions, not awards from a platform or developer.
What our labels mean
- Checked
- A fact we confirmed against an official source — the App Store listing, the developer's site or the platform's own documentation — on the date shown. Sources are listed with each entry.
- Our view
- Editorial judgment: who an app suits and why we would or wouldn't choose it. It is opinion, informed by the checked facts.
- Tested
- Something we observed by actually using the app, with the device and version noted. We haven't hands-on tested any app in this preview yet, and every entry says so.
Editorial scores & App Store ratings
Our editorial score is out of 10: usefulness (up to 4), value (up to 3), and access (up to 3). Each app shows the points and our reasons on each app’s Details page. These are source-based judgments of documented features, pricing and barriers, not hands-on performance tests.
App Store stars are user ratings out of 5, displayed separately with their rating count, US storefront and check date. We do not combine the two scales. Top apps covers our curated catalog, sorted by editorial score. Equal scores share a rank; alphabetical order within a tie does not indicate a preference.
App of the week and month are our editorial choices for the dated period, not Apple awards. A useful discovery can be chosen without having the highest score. Developers cannot buy a score or selection.
Prices and availability
Each price has its own check date and storefront. We distinguish one-time purchases, subscriptions and free tiers with optional paid features. Weekly articles retain the price recorded for that issue; Top apps and category cards use the latest verified catalog price.
Prices can change after a check. The App Store shows the final price in your country before you buy. Updating a rating does not silently refresh a price date.
Our current prices, ratings and editorial scores cover the iPhone version. Other platform links have their own availability sources and check dates. Features, plans and prices may differ between platforms; use the linked official page for those details.
Corrections and updates
When we correct a fact or change a recommendation, we record its date and reason. Pages show the actual check dates; a recent rating check does not imply that every other fact was rechecked.
Names and artwork
Product names identify the apps and platforms we discuss. The letter tiles and decorative covers are our editorial graphics, not official app icons or screenshots. Names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
